Some photos from The 1st Hainault Scouts campsite close to the A12 at Little Heath, nr Romford. \u00a0GB1HS<\/strong> is operated by the Loughton & District ARS and assisting Lee 2E0GSL and Jason 2E0EER, 1st Hainault Scouts leaders, \u00a0as part of the 54th JOTA weekend (more details here<\/a>) and located at the Hargreaves Scout Campsite.\u00a0With an HF Station (SSB) outside under canvas, and separate 2 metre FM station in the main building, quite a few JOTA stations were worked and exchange messages and greetings sent to other scouts from the 1st Hainault group (and other local scout packs).<\/p>\n

Other radio-related activities provided by LEFARS included the opportunity to build your own crystal set and make a lemon battery. At least 50-60 were made! This was overseen by John G0VEH. \u00a0And to send your name in morse.<\/p>\n

Derek M0XDC brought along his ‘Hunter’ SDR receiver and some fun was had in decoding data signals. There was a bit of competition from the main GB1HS station,100w ERP, and sitting under the doublet didn’t help. PSK31 worked better than SSTV in the prevailing conditions.<\/p>\n
